Frequently Asked Questions

There is no fixed contract length, although at certain times of year we may prioritise longer-term bookings. You decide your arrival and departure date before arriving at Chester House. We then calculate the total agreement cost, and split it into monthly or termly payments that you pay by standing order.

To confirm your booking, you need to pay the appropriate booking deposit. The deposit will be fully refunded once you have departed assuming no damage has been done to the room. You will also need to pay your first month’s payment before or on your arrival date.

Check in is from 12pm to 6pm on your chosen arrival date. A member of staff will greet you and give you a brief tour of the accommodation before showing you to your room.

Check out is at 10am on your chosen departure date. You will need to hand your room key into reception on your departure date.

Of course! All residents are welcome to spend the summer break at Chester House. Just speak to the accommodation team if you would like to extend your agreement.

Yes, we have WiFi throughout the building which is included in your fees. We have connection speed of up to 300 Mbps for the whole property.

We are now pleased to be able to allow guests back into the Chester House. For a small fee, residents can book an overnight guest to stay in their room using the sleepover form on the residents area of the website.

Guests must be at least 16 years old, and residents are required to be with their guests at all times. Guests must adhere to our policies, and residents are responsible for their guest’s welfare and behaviour at all times.

Our allocation policy allows for accommodation offers to be made to 16 – 25 year olds for new bookings, and to 16 – 30 year olds for any existing residents or those who have previously been residents at Chester House.

If you are under 18 you will be assigned a member of staff as your main point of contact. We recommend that under 18s applicants and their parent/guardian read our under 18’s policy if you are considering a stay at Chester House.

Yes, many people decide to put a small fridge in their rooms. You can also keep a kettle in your room, but no other cooking equipment is allowed.

Yes! Residents with bikes will be given a key to the bike store upon request.
Residents have access to TV lounges in the Hub, but they may also bring a personal TV if they wish. However, our rooms do not have tv aerial sockets. Residents will have to check to see if a TV license is required if using a TV or if they view certain channels through online streaming.
Most of our residents are students, but we also have some young people living here who are starting out in their chosen careers, or who are completing internships or apprenticeships.
Your guarantor is responsible for paying the accommodation fees if you are unable to pay.

As with all contracts, once it has begun, it is not possible to terminate the accommodation agreement early.
